a small introduction
I am Sarah-Jayne, but you might as well spell it in whichever way pleases you the most. Personally I’m not a fan of the superfluous ‘y’ but my parents obviously were. Most people call me Sarah, but often I go by the name of Rah. I reside in England and I share my birthday with Elvis.
I am a student of the International Baccalaureate and not a day goes by when I do not question my judgement. I wish to go on to read English at Oxford University.
I like to uphold institutions such as good grammar, tea without milk and the Polaroid. I like chai tea when it’s steaming. I like to watch the morning sunlight because it’s the prettiest time of the day, when all of the clouds are blushing at the very edges. I don’t like the dusk because it reminds me of things coming to an end. I like walking barefoot on grass, even when the dew is fresh. I like the way it smells. I like twirling across the lawn in my skirts because I like the way they fly. I tap dance but I painted over my shoes with rainbows and tied the red ribbons into small bows. Shuffle, tap step, ripple. I like to leave messages on the fridge with alphabet magnets and see if I ever get responses. I like eating sugar mice and making them squeak.

I’ve been doing this, this little website thing, for about three years, but nothing you see here is utterly digital. Nearly everything I create digitally is composed of many fabrics, vintage images and examples of handwriting all painstakingly scanned in. It houses what I like to call my online sketchbook. I take photographs and I illustrate. I add water and watch the inks run, run into each other until the colours merge and twirl and leave marks. I collage with paper and glue and I like the way the layers feel. I keep journals and write letters, and I enjoy the way the papers crackle as the pages turn.
It also houses a small section of free art resources. This section features Photoshop brushes, textures and stock images. I also run a small design shop, where premade or commissioned designs and artwork can be purchased.
This is my work. I hope you like a bit of it.
